Hi! My name is Adam Ortiz, a Computer Scientist that studied Software Engineering, Film and Literature at the University of Toronto. I have been coding since high school but never grasped a true appreciation for other fields in computer science until entering University. My interests in Computer science are, though not limited to, Computer Networking and Security. Deriving algorithms to better approximate data and coding various cryptographic algorithms are some of my favourite pass times. It always amazes me how much we rely on these software systems and how little security is emphasized. I hope to ensure secure systems and in doing so, help the world become a safer place.
Another favourite hobby of mine is watching film's, which I studied and obtained a minor in. Watching interesting films peaked my curiosity and pursuit into film theory. The films which I typically lean toward follow auteur theory (don't hate), third cinema, international films which incorporate fresh new ideas and Hollywood's cinematography. I enjoy critically thinking about dynamic themes and visually pleasing scenes which beckon emotional response.
Beyond my studies, I am a Canadian born Hispanic who does not know the meaning of failure. Like many computer scientists, the pursuit of new and innovative solutions to problems often drives progress and breeds imagination. Not to be confused with a blind pursuit of solutions and stubborn persistence. As Einstein said "we cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created the". This way of thinking was engrained in me all my life and continues to push me forward.
Apart from my workaholic tendencies, my common pass times include playing football, reading various fictions, playing chess, and spending time with my nieces whom seem to consistently manage a smile out of my face no matter the circumstances. When time permits, I usually enjoy sleeping, but as Ezio Auditore stated "I know I do not have enough time to do everything. Now I worry that I do not have enough time to do anything ."
